After School
Why Us
Since 1992.
From the beginning of Coastal Expeditions, our owner Chris Crolley was focused on the idea of teaching kids about the outdoors through its summer camp program.
We’ve grown from offering one camp- the Young Naturalist Kayak Adventure Camp- to several camps at four locations- Shem Creek, Cape Romain NWR, St. Helena Island and Francis Marion National Forest. And during the school year, we provide day camps during winter and spring breaks.
For ages 5 to 14.
Connecting with the Outdoors
We know that a life well-lived in the Lowcountry requires some skills and comfort in the outdoors, particularly along our maze of saltwater creeks. Our after school programs are designed to build skills and teach water safety through sea kayaking, fossil hunting, crabbing and other adventures from our outposts at Shem Creek, Daniel Island and Downtown Beaufort.
On half-days and teacher workdays, we also offer “Kids Only” adventures to places like Bulls Island and Morris Island.
With over 30 years experience and a team of environmental educators, the Outdoor School at Coastal Expeditions is ready to take your child on daily adventures that are safe, well planned and fun!
Our team leads student groups year round and have certifications in sea kayaking, life guarding, first aid and CPR. Coastal Expeditions captains hold master captain licenses from the US Coast Guard and our boats are custom-built vessels with USCG Certificates of Inspection (COIs).
Campers wear PFDs whenever we are near the water, including the boat and dock.
