Overview

After School Program | Spring & Fall Sessions
Ages 5-9

Boat rides, barrier islands, and afternoons that spark curiosity.
Once a week, we’ll head out from the Beaufort City Marina for a new adventure with the tide as our guide. Each afternoon takes kids beyond the classroom to nearby islands and waterways, where they’ll explore the local ecosystem, play in wild spaces, and build outdoor skills that foster confidence and curiosity.

No two sessions are the same. One week might bring a boat ride to a barrier island, the next a crabbing lesson or a shoreline scavenger hunt. Activities shift with the weather and tides—making each outing a fresh and exciting experience.

Led by our experienced Coastal Expeditions guides, Ocean Explorers is designed to connect kids with nature, inspire wonder, and give them a chance to just be kids outside. Expect salty air, muddy shoes, and stories they’ll be eager to tell.

Why We Love It

One things kids don’t get enough is free play in nature.  We know that it build confidence, increases happiness and allows kids to connect with each other.  Our Beaufort after school programs keep kids connected with nature and set them up for a lifetime of fun.

What To Pack & Wear

Kids should be dressed for the weather, including a hat to protect from the sun. Even if it is warm, a windbreaker is recommended for the boat ride. Wear shoes that can get wet and will stay on their feet (Tevas/Chacos/sneakers).

Bring water, snack, towel and sunscreen in a small bag or backpack.

Guide Safety & Training

All Coastal Expeditions guides hold certifications in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding. As year-round leaders of day camps and school field trips, our staff is well-trained to keep safety at the forefront.  Children wear PFDs while they are on each daily expedition and any time they are near water.

Our captains hold 100-ton master captain licenses from the USCG.  Coastal Expeditions boats are custom-built vessels that receive yearly inspections from the U.S. Coast Guard.
