SCENIC NARROWS OF THE BLACK RIVER
Carved by Current
Paddle the Black River, a free-flowing State Scenic River known for its inky tannins, towering cypress, and exceptional wildlife. This peaceful route winds through bottomland forest and offers a front-row seat to wood ducks, kites, herons, and the quiet magic of a protected Lowcountry waterway.
5-6 hours
Offered by private reservation, too—just say when, and we’ll be there with paddles ready.
What is the Black River Corridor?
The Black River Corridor is a protected stretch of one of South Carolina’s designated State Scenic Rivers, flowing through more than 75 miles of bottomland forest, ancient swamps, and rich wildlife habitat. Shaded by towering bald cypress, black willow, and pine, this free-flowing river supports a vibrant ecosystem of wood ducks, swallow-tailed kites, otters, alligators, and migratory birds.
Thanks to a collaborative conservation effort among landowners, nonprofits, and state agencies, the corridor remains wild, undeveloped, and deeply connected to the cultural and ecological history of the Lowcountry. It’s a place where paddling feels like stepping into a living, breathing landscape—untouched and unforgettable.
