Celebrating Earth Day with a Beach Sweep on Sullivan’s Island
April 19, 2025
On Friday, April 19, Coastal Expeditions teamed up with our friends at Babiators for a special Earth Day event that brought our community together in a big way. With sunshine overhead and reusable bags in hand, nearly 100 volunteers came out for a beach sweep on beautiful Sullivan’s Island—cleaning up litter along the beach, nearby streets, and parking lots.

This event was extra special thanks to Babiators, the Charleston-born sunglasses brand known for making stylish, kid-proof shades. They just launched their new eco-collection—a line of sunnies made with planet-friendly materials—and to celebrate the release (and Earth Day), they’re donating 10% of their sales this weekend to the Coastal Expeditions Foundation. How cool is that? Shop
We loved seeing families, friends, and Coastal Expeditions crew members working side by side to protect one of our favorite barrier islands. Every kid who joined the effort got a Coastal Expeditions t-shirt and a pair of Babiators from the new eco-collection—a little thank-you for helping to keep our coastlines clean.
If you missed this event, don’t worry—we offer family-friendly volunteer opportunities all year round. Whether it’s oyster reef builds, marsh grass plantings, or shoreline cleanups like this one, we’re always looking for helping hands to support our local ecosystems.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and to Babiators for their generous support and commitment to conservation. Here’s to more clean beaches, happy kids, and partnerships that make a difference.
