Camp Cape Romain: A Week of Adventure in the Lowcountry
This week’s Camp Cape Romain crew packed more adventure into five days than most people experience all summer.
A Week in the Wild
From paddling blackwater creeks in the Francis Marion National Forest to exploring the marsh by paddleboard, campers spent the week immersed in some of the Lowcountry’s most remarkable places. Along the way, they explored the Sewee Visitor & Environmental Education Center, visited the Center for Birds of Prey, learned about wildlife and conservation, and made new friends while building confidence outdoors.
One of the highlights of the week has been our time exploring Cape Romain and Bulls Island. Campers searched for wildlife, learned about barrier island ecosystems, examined fascinating animal bones and artifacts, and experienced the kind of hands-on outdoor learning that simply can’t happen in a classroom.
And according to Camp Leader Morgan, the adventure isn’t over yet. “We’re heading into a big beach day, and I’d say our beach days on Bulls Island have been the highlight of the week!”
Kayaking in Francis Marion National Forest on a blackwater creek is always a highlight of Camp Cape Romain!
Are you ready?
Camp Cape Romain is designed for kids who are ready for a little more adventure. It’s a natural next step for campers who have enjoyed our Shem Creek programs and are eager to explore farther afield. Each day takes campers into special places like Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, the Francis Marion National Forest, and other wild corners of the Lowcountry that most people never get to experience.
The goal isn’t just to have fun—although there’s plenty of that. It’s to help kids build confidence, curiosity, and a connection to the natural world through real exploration.
A Few Spots Still Available Next Week
The enthusiasm from this week’s campers has been contagious, and we’re excited to announce that a few openings have become available for next week’s Camp Cape Romain session.
If your child loves being outdoors, enjoys wildlife and adventure, and is ready to paddle, explore, discover, and get a little sandy, we’d love to have them join us.
Space is limited, and once these spots are filled, Camp Cape Romain will be full.
We can’t wait to see what next week’s campers discover.
Ready for an unforgettable week in the Lowcountry? Join us for Camp Cape Romain!
