SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMP
Overview
Throughout the school year, the Outdoor School at Coastal Expeditions offers day camps during winter and spring breaks, teacher workdays and holidays. Sign ups are by the day and every day offers different nature adventures.
With a ‘base camp’ at our Shem Creek campus, Coastal Expeditions educators check the tides and weather each day to decide what the main activity will be. An assortment of boat tours, fossil hunts on barrier islands, shelter building, birding, swimming, paddle boarding, nature crafts and more fill up each day!
While this camp is for ages 5 to 11, we split the groups by age each day to make sure that kids are challenged!
Why We Love It
This camp gives you flexibility to sign up for the days you need while giving you kids a chance to explore with Coastal Expeditions!

FAQ’s
What To Pack & Wear
Kids should be dressed for the weather, including a hat to protect from the sun. Even if it is warm, a windbreaker is recommended for the boat ride. Wear shoes that can get wet and will stay on their feet (Tevas/Chacos/sneakers).
Bring water, snack, towel and sunscreen in a small bag or backpack. Pack a fun change of clothes in case they get wet!
Guide Safety & Training
All Coastal Expeditions guides hold certifications in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding. As year-round leaders of day camps and school field trips, our staff is well-trained to keep safety at the forefront. Children wear PFDs while they are on each daily expedition.
Our captains hold 100-ton master captain licenses from the USCG. Coastal Expeditions boats are custom-built vessels that receive yearly inspections from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Cancellation & Weather Policy
There is a 7-day cancellation policy for this day camp.
This is a rain-or-shine program, but certain weather conditions (i.e. hurricanes or tropical storms) may cause us to cancel.
