DANIEL ISLAND EXPLORERS

Overview
After‑School Adventure — Ages 5–9
Some days we board the boat. Other days, the trail begins at the edge of the marsh. At Daniel Island Explorers, every week brings a new kind of wild.
Daniel Island Explorers brings after‑school wonder on and off the water: part creekside discovery, part island exploration, part impromptu nature play—all rooted in the rhythms of our Lowcountry home.
How it works:
Kids meet us at Daniel Island Waterfront Park for a short season—Spring or Fall—on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3:45–5:15 pm. Sign up per day to match your week and dive into 9 outdoor adventures.
Why We Love It
What They’ll Do
-
Weekly adventure rotation: Some days we launch from Daniel Island Marina for barrier‑island boat trips—fossil hunting, crabbing, beach combing, exploring tidal creeks.
-
Land‑based discovery: Other days stay onshore with marsh walks, scavenger hunts, dip‑netting, wildlife tracking—no boats required.
-
Always flexible—weather, tides, and the tide of curiosity shape each day’s plan.

What To Pack & Wear
Kids should be dressed for the weather, including a hat to protect from the sun. Even if it is warm, a windbreaker is recommended for the boat ride. Wear shoes that can get wet and will stay on their feet (Tevas/Chacos/sneakers).
Bring water, snack, towel and sunscreen in a small bag or backpack.
Guide Safety & Training
All Coastal Expeditions guides hold certifications in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding. As year-round leaders of day camps and school field trips, our staff is well-trained to keep safety at the forefront. Children wear PFDs while they are on each daily expedition.
Our captains hold current master captain licenses from the USCG. Coastal Expeditions boats are custom-built vessels that receive yearly inspections from the U.S. Coast Guard.
