With outposts at Shem Creek, Kiawah River, and St. Helena Island, we’ve got the Lowcountry covered with kayak and SUP rentals in the best paddling spots around. The Outfitter Shops at Shem & Kiawah

Our outfitter shops are more just a meeting spot for your tour—it’s a curated collection of goods inspired by the Lowcountry. You’ll find Coastal Expeditions gear, coastal-inspired gifts, and thoughtfully chosen essentials for a day on the water.

Every purchase directly supports the Coastal Expeditions Foundation, funding loggerhead sea turtle nest protection in Cape Romain and providing free environmental education to South Carolina students.

Do I need experience?

Not at all—this is a great activity for all skill levels. Our gear is stable and easy to use, and we’ll give you a quick intro, fit your life jacket, and help you on and off the water.

Our goal? For you to have fun, see wildlife, and make it the highlight of your day.

Are there weight or age limitations?

  • Our kayaks support up to 300 lbs per person. Rentals are great for most ages—go at your own pace! Kids 12 and under must ride in a tandem kayak with an adult.
