Out of all the jobs you could have chosen, why do you work for CE?
Coastal Expeditions has created a dream job of mine, what I feel is my soul’s purpose. To invite others into curiosity alongside me for our natural world. To make “outside” no longer outside ourselves. As well as to foster a sense of belonging and responsibility for our only planet.
What is your favorite part of working with CE?
My favorite part of working for CE is watching a sense of discovery wash across a guests face as they learn something new, see a dolphin for the first time, encounter an alligator, or conquer a challenge they are facing.
What do you enjoy the most about the Low Country?
I enjoy the climate and the different habitats the most. I’m so close to Francis Marion National Forest too, a treasure trove full of carnivorous plants and fascinating reptiles! Plus a warmer climate means I can grow so many more plants than I could in NC.
What is one thing that you want people to know about CE?
Coastal Expeditions is devoted to conservation through education and is very enthusiastic about getting people of all outdoors!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I love painting, camping, exploring the outdoors, keeping various exotic houseplants, wildlife photography, building vivariums, and of course kayaking.
What is your favorite nature experience?
My favorite nature experience has to be climbing to the top of a 200 foot tall kapok tree in the Amazon with my Quechuan friend Jamie. We sat high above the rainforest canopy, ate cacao and watched the sunset.
What is your favorite tour that CE offers and why?
My favorite tour is the full day that we offer paddling in the black water Tupelo cypress swamp in Francis Marion. It’s my favorite because I get to see and talk about lots of snakes, birds, insects, mushrooms, alligators, and sometimes otters!
What is a quirky fact about you? I’ve been making and playing didgeridoos for 7 years now!
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My favorite thing about myself is that the more I learn the less I realize I know. That makes every day all the more novel and precious to be enjoyed.
