Why Us
Let’s Go!
Our field trips are designed to keep students engaged as they make connections with the outdoors through kayaking, island exploration and boat trips.
Island & boat trips can be adapted for all grade levels, while kayaking trips are for grades 6-12.
Science Curriculum Field Study
We share your educational view that learning is best when it is interactive and hands-on. Through the Homeschool Program, students are able to experience nature-based play while learning about ecology, wildlife, tides and water sports. Each week, students depart from our base camp on Shem Creek to nearby barrier islands while learning grade level science curriculum.
With over 30 years experience and a team of environmental educators, the Outdoor School at Coastal Expeditions is ready to take your class to places like Bull Island, the Black River and Shem Creek on an adventure that is safe, well planned and fun!
Our team leads student groups year round and have certifications in sea kayaking, life guarding, first aid and CPR. Coastal Expeditions captains hold master captain licenses from the US Coast Guard and our boats are custom-built vessels with USCG Certificates of Inspection (COIs). In addition, we carry the appropriate insurance necessary to host school groups at our facilities.
