Bulls Island Litter Sweep | For Boeing Employees & Families

Garris Landing 498 Bulls Island Road, Awendaw

Boeing SC employees and their families are invited participate in a beach sweep on Bulls Island in Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge - a safe haven for over 293 species of birds. We will begin with a comprehensive litter sweep to make the island clean for the seabird, shorebirds and loggerhead sea turtle nesting season, while being mindful of the active wildlife already on the beach. This activity will target the coastal zone of the barrier island where the sand meets the Atlantic Ocean. Following this, we will plant sprigs of the indigenous Smooth Cordgrass (Sporobolus alternifloius) in a process that has been proven to create a more resilient shoreline in the face of rising water levels.    Service opportunity for Boeing Team members and their families Includes boat transportation to Bulls Island Family-friendly Meet at Garris Landing (498 Bulls Island Road, Awendaw, SC 29429) The Coastal Expeditions Foundation will provide all clean up materials. Please dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes and a hat.  Bring a filled water bottle.
