About the Sale

Every December, we open the livery doors at our headquarters on Shem Creek for our annual used gear sale.  It’s become a tradition for outdoor enthusiasts in the Lowcountry because over the last 2 decades we’ve cultivated a tradition of selling pro-grade gear in great condition at very good prices (up to 50% off retail!)

Most of the kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are less than a year old (our season starts in March) and have been handled with care and stored under cover.

Coastal Expeditions guides are available to help you choose the right gear for your lifestyle to make sure that you purchase something that you’ll really use and enjoy.

In addition to used gear, we’ll have gift certificates and retail goods for sale.  The coffee will be hot, the halls will be decked and we’ll be ready for you!

Why should you buy used at the Coastal Expeditions sale?

1.  You’ll get a better grade vessel than you would from a retail store (they make them with lower grade materials to keep the prices down).  Since our gear has to handle a lot of use, we purchase professional level gear that holds up in the sun, saltwater and oysters.

2. It’s the most eco-thoughtful option.  As soon as you get out on the water one time with your kayak or SUP, it’s no longer new.  Get something that’s already been primed for adventure instead.

3. You’ll get to chat with experts before you buy.   Our guides know this gear better than anyone and they’ll help you pick the best fit for you.  You’ll get the chance to see how the kayak or canoe feels, ask questions and make sure that you’re getting exactly what you want.
