Paddle with Bottlenose Dolphins on Folly Beach!
It's no secret that low-tide is the best time to find bottlenose dolphins the estuary. What is a secret is where to find them, and our guides know where to go. Join us for a great time on the water as we seek out this gregarious inhabitant of the saltmarsh estuary!
Dolphins along the coast of South Carolina and Georgia are unique in that they have learned how to hunt by working as a team to push fish onto the muddy banks. Once the fish have been washed ashore, the dolphins quickly follow, temporarily beaching themselves as they eat mullet and other species off the banks.
It's an exciting sight, and shore birds like egrets, herons and pelicans often participate in this event as well, picking up the fish that the dolphins leave behind.
*This tour is offered when the tides are right. We've selected the time of day when we have the best chance of seeing dolphins (including strand-feeding behavior), but please keep in mind that dolphins are wild animals and don't guarantee an appearance!
