Wambaw Creek Kayaking

This past Saturday, my husband and our two children went on a guided tour of Wambaw Creek.  Paddling the black water creeks was amazing, and our stop at Hampton Plantation for lunch was like a step back in time.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the thing that truly made our trip extraordinary was our guides.  Geoff and Greg are simply the best.  It was apparent that they both possess a great deal of love and passion for their jobs, the environment, and history.  They were extremely knowledgeable, super friendly, and funny.   During our six hour trip, we learned more about our state's history, local fauna, and plant life than I ever thought possible.  We were all truly blown away, and we cannot wait to go on another adventure with these guys.  Thank you so much for having us, Geoff and Greg.   We had a blast and can't stop talking about our awesome trip!

Wambaw Creek Kayaking

Ok, you're visiting Charleston - you've been to the beach, gone to a few restaurants, maybe toured a Plantation or taken a carriage tour - but do you want to really make your trip memorable?  Call these guys up and get on one of their tours.  Flat out an amazing experience.

Our family went on the Wambaw Creek tour and had an awesome time with Geoff. We were looking for something a little off the beaten path and this definitely delivered!

We are far from kayaking "pros", in fact for one of my sons and my wife this was their first time in a kayak and they had a great time!

Ours was one of the longer tours but we paddled by three alligators and several kites and herons.  We also enjoyed stopping for lunch on the porch of Hampton Plantation while Geoff told us more about the history of the site.

Our guide Geoff was great and interactively shared his knowledge of the river, it's inhabitants and it's history. It made our vacation. Well done guys and thank you!!

Wonderful Day Spent Kayaking

We spent a day kayaking through the Francis Marion National Forest on the Wambaw Creek. Our guide, Geoff, was wonderful and was extremely knowledgeable about the nature and history of the area. We paddled past 3 alligators and spotted several endangered Swallowtail Kites. For lunch, we enjoyed a visit to historic Hampton Plantation and ate our packed lunch on the porch of the mansion house. Our trip was a highlight of our visit to the Charleston area! Highly recommended!!!

Take This Tour!

My wife and I just rèturned from our Echaw creek tour guided by Wick. We're still talking about it. What a great experience. Wick's knowledge of the area, its history and wildlife brought an additional dimension to the trip. We highly recommend Coastal Expeditions and the Echaw Creek trip. We take the Folly Creek low tidè tour tomorrow are anticipating another incredible day on the water!

Santee River Trip

Coastal Expeditions, specifically Gates Roll, helped us plan an overnight unguided 15 mile kayak trip down the Santee River. It was an awesome trip - exactly what we were looking for.

If you're looking for a unique trip, give them a call and ask for Gates. He helped us think through things like tide, drop off, pick up, mapping, etc. He's easy to work with and can deliver exactly what you're looking for.

Great Kayaking

After being taught how to use the kayaks, we went on our adventure, which never lacked fun. Our guide Geoff knew tons of stuff about the places we went. This was the highlight of our trip.

Quenby Creek Kayaking

Geoff and Coastal Expeditions really know their history of the area and the botany of the black water through that area. I hope to see more kayaking through other areas through little known areas. I learned a lot! Thanks so much.

Peace and Rice

I didn't know paddling for six hours could bring so much peace! Our black water kayak trip from Quenby Creek landing to Pompion Hill Plantation took us through strands of blue water hyacinth, yellow buttercups and false indigo. We saw flood gate ruins from the rice plantation days, as well as ones that still control water flow. Even now the rice grows wildly along the banks. Geoff, our Coastal Expeditions leader, inspired us with his love for the history of the area - and his knowledge of the flora and fauna. He took very good care of us by putting us through our kayak training paces. This trip reminded me how much I love the outdoors. Thank you!

Echaw Creek Kayak Tour

My husband, in-laws, and I were privileged to experience the Echaw Creek Kayaking Tour this past Saturday, July 12th, 2014. Our kayaking tour guide was Geoff Caruso and needless to say, he was incredible! The tour was incredibly well-organized, detailed, and well-worth our money. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on all the history, wildlife, and nature of Echaw Creek and South Carolina. The kayaking trip is great for experienced and in-experienced kayakers. My mother-in-law and I had never kayaked before, but with Geoff's guidance and help, we felt like pros by the end of the day! Two Thumbs Up for this kayaking trip!

Great Time!

My wife and I had a great time traversing through Wambaw Creek in Francis Marion National Forest. This area that they take you is secluded and untouched. Beautiful scenery and easy paddling with almost no current. Our guide, Eric, was extremely nice and helpful throughout the trip giving us incite into the history of the local area and ecosystem. Will def. be on another trip with Coastal Expeditions in the future!

A Great Experience!

We went kayaking on the Echaw Creek out of McClellanville with Coastal Expeditions in April 2014. It was a really good time. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area, the ecology, the geology, wildlife. He was a good guide, friendly and helpful. I spoke with Mary on the phone a couple of times during the booking process and she was very kind, patient and friendly. I had never been kayaking before and it was a piece of cake. I would recommend this group if you are in the area. They have several tours, excursions and opportunities.
