OUR GUIDES AND SERVICES
Since we began offering kayak tours and rentals 18 years ago, many tour providers have emerged in the Charleston area. If you are planning a kayak outing near Charleston, South Carolina- whether a half-day trip, full-day trip, overnight adventure, kayak rental or instruction- look towards Coastal Expeditions as your service provider. Our years of experience, earned reputation and dedication to excellence make all the difference.
Our emphasis on quality and safety has given us a reputation as Coastal South Carolina's premiere outfitter. Our guides are trained Sea Kayak Instructors and certified lifeguards. We are also certified in First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, CPR and AED. We are the chosen Lowcountry guide service of the Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation League, REI and Backroads International.
Our mission is conservation and environmental stewardship through immersion and experiential environmental education, therefore all of our guides are also dedicated Naturalists who continue to seek to better understand and interpret the connections of the natural world around us. A guided kayak tour with Coastal Expeditions includes interpretation of the human history, natural history, geology, and the flora and fauna connections as they relate to you as a paddler.
When you join us, you join a group of naturalists who believe kayaking is the least intrusive way to learn about the coastal waters. You are valued as a team member in our adventure, gaining an increased appreciation for our aquatic ecosystems and our part in their protection. Our kayak tours are easy enough for all skill levels and we specialize in creating customized private group tours for families, school groups, churches, and corporations, including team building programming.
Estuaries are the most bio diversified ecosystem on the planet. South Carolina is blessed with more estuary/barrier island habitat than any other state in the nation, including the longest stretch of contiguously protected coastline on the Eastern seaboard. This rich environment is where fresh and saltwater intermingle and is host to an abundant and diverse array of flora and fauna. Whether paddling in the black water creeks of a Cypress Swamp in Francis Marion National Forest, old canals of abandoned rice fields in the ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge or the coastal waters of our barrier islands in and around Cape Romain National Wildlife refuge your adventure with Coastal Expeditions will be an unforgettable highlight of your stay in the Low Country.
